Mark Upcoming Events on Your 2016 Calendar

Whether you got a new calendar for Christmas, or you are just preparing for the year ahead, it is time to start marking down important dates for the coming year.  The following are some of the many Extension Educational Events planned for the first quarter of 2016.

Date: January 16  

Title: Florida Bull Test Sale

Target Audience:  Beef Cattle Ranchers

Location: NFREC Beef Research Unit, Marianna

Time Frame: 11:30 Lunch 12:30 Sale

Date:January 21

Title: Satsuma Production Meeting

Target Audience:  Citrus Producers

Location: Jackson County Extension Office

Time Frame: 7:30 AM -12:30 PM

Brief description: 2016 Panhandle Satsuma Meeting January 21st

Date:January 27

Title: Tri-State Cucurbit Meeting

Target Audience:  Citrus Producers

Location: Jackson County Extension Office

Time Frame: 7:30 AM -1:45 PM

Brief description: 2016 Tri-State Cucurbit Meeting January 27th

Date: February 10  

Title: Northwest Florida Beef Conference & Trade Show

Target Audience:  Beef Cattle Ranchers

Location: Jackson County Extension Office

Time Frame: 7:30 AM -1:30 PM

Brief description: 31st annual event.  Presentations on beef cattle and forage management and a trade show of industry representatives who provide products and services to cattle producers.

Date: February 11, 2016

Title:  Row Crop Production Meeting

Target Audience:   Crop Farmers

Location:  Jay Community Center, 5259 Booker Lane, Jay, FL

Time Frame:  8:00 a.m. – Lunch

Brief description: Half day update for row crop producers.

Date:  February 18-19     

Title: Gulf Coast Agritourism and Ecotourism Business Development Conference
Target Audience:  Any agriculture (U-pick operations, fresh produce markets, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, etc.) or ecological (paddling, camping, fishing, etc.) tourism business owner or those considering similar business startups.

Time Frame: 10 am- 5:30 on the 18th, 8:30-1:00 on the 19th.

Location:  1 Energy Place, Pensacola, FL

Brief description: Join us for the 2016 Gulf Coast Agritourism & Ecotourism Business Development Conference in beautiful Pensacola, Florida. A dynamic group of speakers will be providing relevant information for your start-up, established business, or future plans. Registration is only $ 25!!! This is a  tremendous value that includes two lunches and all conference materials.

Date: February 29

Title: Pesticide Applicator Training
Target Audience:  Farmers and those interested in a private applicator license.

Location: Jay Community Center, Booker Lane, Jay FL

Time Frame: 9 am to 1 pm

Brief description: Training for those interested in getting a private applicator license or those who need private or core CEUs.  Cost: $ 5.

Date: March 3

Title: Row Crop Short Course

Target Audience:  Peanut and Cotton Farmers

Location: Jackson County Extension Office

Time Frame: 7:30 AM -1:30 PM

Brief description: Presentations on peanut and cotton farming and a trade show of industry representatives who provide products and services to row crop farmers.

Date: March 7, 14, & 21   

Title: Beekeeping in the Panhandle Short Course

Target Audience:  Beekeepers, Novice to Intermediate

Location: County Extension offices across the NW District

Time Frame: 6-8 pm Central time, 7-9 Eastern

Brief description: Fifth annual interactive videoconference short course for all beekeepers with a focus on novice to intermediate knowledge of beekeeping.  The short course will be followed by the 5th Annual Trade Show on April 1 & 2.

Date: April 1 & 2 

Title: 5th Annual Beekeeping in the Panhandle Trade Show and Workshop

Target Audience:  Beekeepers

Location: Washington County Extension office in Chipley Florida

Time Frame: 9 am – 2 pm Central time

Brief description: The Fifth annual Workshop and Trade Show will provide hands-on educational opportunities including interaction with expert beekeepers, open hive demonstrations, and more!
